Star Scientific Limited was founded and set up by Andrew Horvath. Our early years were spent working to advance muon-catalysed fusion when a breakthrough discovery occurred. We discovered a breakthrough technology to convert hydrogen into heat without combustion. This became our HERO® – the Hydrogen Energy Release Optimiser.

Andrew leads Star Scientific, where he oversees the business strategy and development behind the company’s breakthrough technology, HERO®. Andrew’s vision has been instrumental in taking Star Scientific from a research lab founded by his father, nuclear physicist and inventor, Stephen Horvath, to an international business with the potential to transform a broad array of sectors.
Steve has provided scientific leadership within Star Scientific since 2007. It was in the process of working to harness the energy from nuclear fusion that Steve and his team discovered the phenomenon that is now the foundation of the Company’s HERO® technology.
Today Steve manages an international portfolio of research projects and relationships with industry, academia, and governments. He is responsible for setting and aligning the research, development and deployment programs to support the Star Scientific Group’s strategic direction.
Steve has a Masters in Astronomy from Swinburne University.
Jim has been a part of the Star Scientific team since 2009, first as a Draftsman, and subsequently as Head of Engineering. His emphasis has always been on ensuring exceptional design and manufacturing standards. In his current role, he is heading the development and establishment of Star Scientific’s mass production plant.
Matthew is responsible for strategic planning and business development at Star Scientific, driving support for green hydrogen across business and government.
He is a passionate advocate for the hydrogen economy and believes the pioneering work of Star Scientific has the potential to spark an industrial renaissance in Australia and globally.
